The theme of our group project is senior year. I helped film and interview our classmates and peers. The hardest part was trying to figure out which footage to use. We had a lot of boring responses, along with inappropriate as well. We wanted to keep the video appropriate but funny at the same time. The easiest part was watching it. We really enjoyed the way our video turned out.

Senior Farewell Project

Jessica and Stephanie are in my group for this project. Our video is about the things students will and will not miss about RCHS. I helped with filming and interviewing students.

Capstone Presentation

My booth was towards the back close to Fannin Hall. I had my poster, tri-fold, and website pulled open on my laptop. My experience was good. I was very nervous, but once I started presenting, everything else went smoothly. I presented around 5:15 and was one of the first to present in my area. I also only had one judge, and she was very nice and comforting. The hardest part was having to stand in my heels until 7! But I enjoyed having free time in the end to watch my classmates present and look at their amazing projects. The experience was way less stressful than I thought. Infographic Poster

My infographic poster relates to my Capstone because it discusses the use of media in the classroom. I had to complete a little extra research, such as finding statistics. The easiest part was finding a template I liked. Since I plan to major in Journalism, I really liked the newspaper look I used for the poster. The hardest part was trying to figure out how to arrange everything on the page. I didn't want to leave too much extra space, but I also didn't want to have too much going on at the same time. I made this poster during Winter term and haven't changed a thing. I didn't receive any criticism as well, so I plan to keep my poster the way it is. I enjoy it.

The two links above both discuss the importance of education. Education is half of my capstone project. The other half deals with communication.  The first link reveals the importance of getting a college education, while the second link has different people talking about their views on the importance of education. I like the idea of having numerous people talk about their opinion. I feel it makes a point more clear.

-In my PSA, I will discuss the importance of education and how communication is a key factor in being successful in school.

-I plan to have people talking, discussing their opinions.

-I plan to film a student struggling with their grades. Later I will show a professor who is not engaged in the class vs a professor who is. I will have people discussing the importance of having students engaged in a class and the importance of communication.

CAPSTONE PROJECT STATEMENT OF INTENT


The goal of this project is to help students gain as much from the classroom as they can. I plan to make the classroom as interesting as possible. I also plan to improve communication skills for students, their peers, and their professors.

It is imperative that students feel comfortable in their classrooms. Without that comfort, they are less likely to ask questions and/or get engaged in the class. Being comfortable with their classmates and professors WILL improve grades and skills throughout courses. Communication is key.

These goals fit with my major, Mass Communications and Journalism, because communication is a key factor in EVERY thing we do.

My project gives back to society due to the fact that it helps gain skills and helps students grades improve overall.
